The Start Of A New Era

CHELSEA HIRE EX-TOTTENHAM BOSS MAURICIO POCHETTINO AS MANAGER AFTER LENGTHY RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Chelsea have hired Mauricio Pochettino as their new permanent manager. Pochettino has been without a job since he departed Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022. Pochettino was also linked with a return to Tottenham, who he led to the Champions League final in 2019, but has instead decided to make a switch across London to become the head coach of Chelsea under the stewardship of Todd Boehly.

"We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board."

"Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward," said co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley.

"He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate."

Pochettino replaces Frank Lampard after the former England midfielder returned to Chelsea as caretaker boss until the end of the season. Lampard was Chelsea's third manager of a dismal campaign that featured Boehly sacking Thomas Tuchel in September and then axing his successor Graham Potter in April after less than seven months in charge.

Pochettino's First Chelsea Interview

"Thank you very much. For me, it is a pleasure and honour to now be involved with Chelsea Football Club. We are so excited, and I know Chelsea very well, it is one of the greatest clubs in the world. So of course, it was easy for us to make the decision to move here".
"If we are all together, we are going to be very strong. We have an unbelievable squad and for sure are going to bring players with commitment who want to be part of it also. With the fans and everyone, we can find again the way to be successful."
Mauricio Pochettino during his first interview mentioned Chelsea as a "Project". He mentioned that this project was started before his arrival in July. Pochettino assures that it will take time but eventually Chelsea will be back to the winning ways that the fans remember and loved. However the question arises;

WILL POCHETTINO BE ABLE TO SUCESSFULLY CARRY OUT THIS PROJECT AND BRING OUT THE BEST IN CHELSEA OR WILL HE END UP IN THE LIST OF MANAGERS SACKED BY CHELSEA IN THEIR RECENT HISTORY?
