The Blues' preparations for the new season stepped up a notch in Philadelphia on July 22, as they emerged victorious 4-3 in a thrilling encounter against fellow English top-flight outfit Brighton at the Lincoln Financial Field in their first game of Premier League Summer Series.
Thereafter, they played out a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on July 26, followed by a comfortable 2-0 victory over Fulham at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland to lift the first-ever Premier League Summer Series. The final game of the U.S. tour saw Chelsea play out a 1-1 draw against German giants Borussia Dortmund at Soldier Field on August 2.
Mauricio Pochettino has named his 29-man squad for Chelsea's pre-season tour in the United States, with no places for fringe transfer-linked stars Hakim Ziyech, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, or Romelu Lukaku on the flight.
